Glam up your Kitchen

Bring a little glamour and style into your kitchen.  When next you buy a kitchen appliance, lights, crockery or replace your cupboards consider colour and glitz in place of clean and white.  We don’t often associate the kitchen with glamour but think about it….you probably spend more time in your kitchen than anywhere else and why shouldn’t you have  a little glamour and style around you?

Bring colour into the kitchen

Open shelves in the kitchen are a great way to display your colourful crockery or kitchen tools and gadgets.  You can laminate paint your tired old cupboard doors, add new handles and glam up your kitchen in days.  Check out this IKEA kitchen below in soft pinks walls and gold door handles—glam but calming as well.

A splash of bright paint will go a long way in giving your kitchen a bit of glam.  Paint a feature wall yellow, or the island cupboards a bright burnt orange and they will catch the eye of everyone who enters.

Freshen up  tired old kitchen doors and/or cupboards.  You can use your favourite water based paint and add Howard’s Chalk-Tique powder to turn it into Chalk Paint at a fraction of the cost.  Then paint your kitchen doors and change the handles with ease.  Chalk paint brushes on smoothly and dries quickly.  Gives the cupboards  a distressed vintage look.  Make sure you follow instructions and sand and clean the doors beforehand.

Table Lamps in the Kitchen

A quick way to bring glamour to the kitchen is to introduce a table lamp onto the kitchen counter.  Table lamps in the kitchen?  Well why not?  It will certainly add to the cosy atmosphere of a the kitchen, especially at night.  If you have a spare power-point on your counter,  add a charming side light and see how it changes the ambience!  The glitzier your lamp, the more glamour you will add.

Colourful kitchen appliances

Colour is everywhere these days.  Gone are the boring white appliances of yesteryear.  There are orange, red, black and dazzling green appliances.  Red and Black will bring a touch of glamour but it you want the wow factor, you can try bright green or yellow and this will glitz up your counter!  Don’t send the appliances into the cupboards when not being used.  Leave them on display to add that touch of glamour and colour to the kitchen.  The kitchen below might have just a tad too much pink and lilac however!
