Colour Trends for 2019
Water Air Earth these are the colours of the new world! Paying homage to the environment and reflecting on the environment and sustainability. A subtle play of contrasts between complementary shades of earth and vegetation. It’s all about natural colours – getting back to nature with flashes of brightness. From lighter to darker colours; the shades of orange, red, purple and brown are the most numerous, while a fair variety of green merges with bright blues and yellows.
Also the pastels are still in fashion, especially when matched with cobalt blues or olive greens! See in the photo how a dusty pink will compliment a light grey. Check out Red Bubble Original Artwork for awesome products designed by independent artists – the range includes cushions, mugs, clocks and in particular I love the wall hangings. Very reasonable considered they are unique product.
I’m glad to see that the earthy greens are still in fashion for 2019. They pair well with cream or grey cushions, purple backdrops (a feature wall for example) and best of all any sort of pot plant, although the bromeliads and cactus type plants that require very little maintenance are popular.
Cool blues and dusty pink are soothing and relaxing. Use in babies rooms, in bedrooms and in pockets of your living areas. Candles and flowers are a great way to introduce pastels if you are not a fan. Match with greys, white, some of the metallics, light tan and cream.
I am not a huge fan of pastels because they need to be well co-ordinated so they don’t look too ‘prissy’ (if there is such a word!). Too much pink and baby blue (such as Dulux Blue ice in the palette) will really not modernise a space – but light blue furnishings or feature wall (in the Antartica Lake) can give the space a ‘coastal’ feel and matched with one or two pink objects, it won’t jar at all. Dulux Fair Bianca is a clever matching beige which is popular in bedrooms right now.
My favourites are the earthy tones matched with some shiny metallic lights and green plants. Beacon Lighting has this and other lights on sale right now.
Personally I still love the burnt orange with the earthy look, but I don’t think it can last much past 2019 as it has been around for a while now.
